It likes to throw you curve balls and watch maliciously as you try to repair the mess it’s created. Yup. Currently, that is my understanding of life.

This past year has been a mess. A messy life is not necessarily a bad life, but it sure is frustrating.

It’s 2am. I’m sitting at the front desk of a college dorm, selling my soul (and personal sleep time) for minimum wage.

For the past 7 hours, I have been harassed and hassled by a bunch of teens who have a newfound sense of empowerment because they have finally left the controlling clutches of their parent’s homes.

“What do you mean I can only check in 3 people?!”

“How come I have to do this?”

“This is a stupid policy!”

“Can’t you just do it for me?!”

I don’t need this kind of shit from 18 years olds. I’m fucking 23!

Was I like this when I first went to college? I hope to Jesus I wasn’t.

These kids forgot to pack their manners.

We’re Back

Hello People of the Internet!

A Brand New Colony is back and currently in JAPAN!

We took a break because of some major changes in out lives, but now that everything is more or less settled, we’ll continue posting.

Currently, I’m on a school trip in Japan where I’m learning the art of calligraphy and ceramics. (Since I’m a graphic designer, we’ll see how all that turns out.) It’s 12 days of non-stop traveling, sight-seeing, and learning.

As the trip progresses, I’ll do my best to post what I see!
